MIDAC AGM (Absorbent Glass Mat) battery uses high-performancecomponents and materials, including high-surface glass matseparators, advanced lead-tin alloys. It is ideally suited to carswith start-stop technology or regenerative braking systems. Thisnew-generation AGM battery also supports sailing and otherintelligent fuel-saving features.

AGM TECHNOLOGY

Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM) technology batteries are a type ofValve Regulated Lead Acid (VRLA) battery that use a materialmanufactured from very fine glass fibres. The AGM material acts asa separator between the positive and negative plates and as asponge to hold the sulphuric acid electrolyte. The plates arecompressed for superior electrical performance to conventionalflooded technology.

Instead of the conventional polyethylene separator, the platesof AGM batteries are enveloped with a glass mat that absorbs theelectrolyte and maintains direct contact with the plate’s activematerial. This greatly enhances both discharge and rechargeefficiency, resulting in high performance engine starting and highcycle capabilities. The physical bond between the batterycomponents and the container makes AGM spill-proof and the mostresilient battery to vibrations and tilting at highinclinations.

AGM Batteries can be used for Start-Stop cars with regenerativebraking and coasting, and as a high-endurance starter battery forutility and emergency light vehicles. Other applications includeoff-road, motorbikes and marine/leisure.

•          From timeto time make sure the terminals are free from dust and dirt, andall connections are sound.

•          Pleasemust not use the trickle charger, split charging system and solarcharger to charge discharged batteries. Only use mainspowered battery chargers.

•          Allbatteries, regardless of their chemistry, will self-discharge. Therate of self-discharge for lead acid batteries depends on thestorage or operating temperature. At a temperature of 80 degrees F.A lead acid battery will self-discharge at a rate of approximately4% a week. A battery with a 125-amp hour rating wouldself-discharge at a rate of approximately five amps per week.Keeping this in mind if a 125 AH battery is stored for four months(16 weeks) winter without being charged, it will lose 80 amps ofits 125-amp capacity. It will also have severe sulfation, whichcauses additional loss of capacity. Keep your batteries chargedwhile not in use.
